NEW Benefits Ambassador Training Series

The Benefits Ambassador Training Series helps HR professionals and benefits administrators stay up to date on state benefits resources and tools.

NEW Benefits Summit

In collaboration with Delta Dental and MetLife, the CalHR Benefits Division is hosting a Benefits Summit for state HR professionals. You’re invited to:

  • Hear directly from:
    • Benefit carriers including VSP, MetLife, ARAG, The Standard and Delta Dental on the fundamentals of administering state employee benefits.
    • The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).
    • Our new EAP vendor Spring Health and the new Wellness vendor Grokker.
  • Network and speak directly with benefit carrier representatives.

Registration is now open! Seats are limited at each event, so each individual attending from a personnel office will need to complete their own registration. Please register only once. The Benefits Summit is for Personnel staff only. Please do not allow employees outside of the personnel office to register. Visit the Benefits Summit webpage for registration links.

Registration will close once capacity has been met. The summit will be free to attend; however, travel costs will be at the discretion of departments.

Virtual Lunch & Learn Sessions

This year’s Virtual Lunch and Learn session for HR Professionals was held on August 26, 2026 and has concluded.

The Virtual Lunch and Learn brought together the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the State Controller’s Office (SCO) to give you a comprehensive overview of what’s new and what you need to know for Open Enrollment.

Health Enrollment Self-Service for State Active Employees

Health benefits are provided through the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). CalPERS has launched a new self-service feature for state active employees, allowing them to submit health enrollment changes and supporting documentation directly through their myCalPERS account.
